Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse North Carolina. This role involves providing competent clinical nursing care within a hospital setting, focusing on patient assessment, care planning, and execution. The position requires collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to promote patient safety and discharge planning, with a primary focus on medical-surgical care.
Job Details
- Position Description: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process.
- Required Qualifications: Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN) from an accredited school of Nursing; licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina; Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification from AHA or ARC; 1 year of nursing experience; Location in North Carolina; Schedule: Nights shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week.
- Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, including population-appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.
- Performs bedside point of care testing as required for patient care plan.
- Utilizes healthcare standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care.
- Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs.
- Consults with appropriate resources regarding complex care issues and discharge planning.
- Participates in development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities.
- Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care, including assessment of physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Collaborates with patients and families to develop or update the plan of care, addressing cultural and ethnic considerations.
- Reads journals and brings ideas to the staff for assessment of applicability and research.
- Preferred Qualifications: BSN or MSN from an accredited school of Nursing.
- Additional Information: Care planning, discharge planning, performance improvement activities, communication systems, and research participation.
