Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) Night Shift Location
This role involves providing specialized nursing care in a stepdown unit from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The RN will monitor and care for patients with complex health needs, including trauma, post-surgical, and critical care patients, requiring advanced telemetry and medication management skills.

Job Details

  • Position Description:
    The PCU is a stepdown unit with 14 beds designated for close monitoring of ICU patients. The RN will care for patients with diagnoses such as trauma, severe post-surgical recovery, sepsis, and neurological conditions, including TBI. Experience in ICU stepdown or PCU units with telemetry training is required.
  • Required Qualifications:
    Current BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications; at least 2 years of experience in a similar setting; valid RN license; minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience; and the ability to work the 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience with high-risk medications such as titrating pressors, precedex, and ventilated patient care. Strong understanding of HCAHPS and core measures, with a patient-focused approach.
  • Schedule:
    12-hour night shifts starting at 6:45 PM, three shifts per week, with a schedule planned 2-3 weeks in advance, and self-scheduling when possible.
  • Additional Information:
    First to float to Telemetry or MedSurg units; work includes managing drips such as Precedex, dopamine, dobutamine, and levophed; supports a busy, fast-paced environment with high patient turnover. The team emphasizes patient experience, effective teamwork, and a patient-centered approach.
