Job Summary
Step Down Unit Nurse Nights Location: Not Specified
This role involves providing patient care on a high-flow step-down unit with frequent admissions, transfers, and discharges. The position requires a dedicated nurse capable of supporting a collaborative team environment and managing complex patient needs within a fast-paced hospital setting.
Job Details
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS; minimum experience required: 2 years
- Education Requirements: Valid nursing license; location requirements: within 50 miles of the facility; experience requirement: at least 2 years
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week
- Additional responsibilities include interpreting telemetry data, titrating drips such as Heparin, insulin, octreotide, and managing a variety of IV infusions like Cardizem and nitro.
- The unit has a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, with duties including supporting code carts, Lucas machines, hoyer lifts, sit and stand aids, and reading/interpretation of telemetry.
- Shifts are scheduled in a 6-week cycle, with 6 weekend shifts required within that period.
- The unit has a policy of rapid patient turnover, frequent admissions, and team-based care.
- Orientation includes classroom training followed by two 12-hour shifts.
- Floating to other hospital areas, including ICU and Emergency Department, may be required based on abilities.
- Candidates must comply with the fingernail policy prohibiting artificial nails.
- Candidates need to have a drivers license to confirm geographic eligibility.
- RTO (Request for Time Off) requests must be submitted upfront, with a limit of 7 days or less per 13-week contract.
