Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse General Medical and Surgical Care within the healthcare facility. This role involves providing direct patient care for individuals with a variety of medical conditions, including congestive heart failure, hypertension, chest pain, COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, pancreatitis, and gastrointestinal issues. The position offers an opportunity to support patients in both acute and lower acuity settings with a focus on comprehensive patient management.

Job Details

• Position: Medical Surgical Floor Nurse in the Medical Surgical (MS) specialty
• Location: Within a healthcare facility, serving a diverse patient population
• Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license; CPR/BLS certification; ACLS certification; minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; ability to read electrocardiograms (ECGs); proficiency with EPIC charting system; successful license submission
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in rural healthcare settings, understanding of working with lower-resourced environments, capacity to titrate drips including analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives; comfortable with ventilator management including Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, and Vents
• Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with diverse diagnoses such as CHF, hypertension, chest pain, COPD exacerbations, pneumonia, pancreatitis, and gastrointestinal issues
  • Titrate medications and drips as needed under physician orders
  • Monitor patient status, read and interpret strips, escalate concerns accordingly
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members, including charge nurses and nurse aides
  • Adhere to unit-specific protocols and safety standards during patient care
• Additional Information:
  • Self-scheduling and block scheduling available
  • Expectation to work a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
  • May be asked to float into other acuity levels, including ICU (low acuity holds), Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Stepdown, or Medical Surgical Telemetry as needed
  • No specified mention of tele/monitor techs or specific scrub color; navy blue scrubs provided
