Job Summary
ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Nurse Nights, NeuroTrauma ICU The organization seeks a highly skilled ICU nurse to provide exceptional care in a progressive critical care environment. The candidate will be responsible for managing neuro, trauma, and surgical patients, utilizing advanced critical care skills, and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Job Details
- Position: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Nurse
- Specialty: Intensive Care Unit
- Location: Within 60 miles of the designated healthcare facility
- Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale); CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) and TCAR (Trans Carotid Artery Revascularization) are preferred
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of trauma/surgical and neuro critical care experience preferred, with flexible skills, good communication, and teamwork abilities
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Additional Qualifications: Must be licensed and able to submit license documentation; RNs are required to titrate drips including vasopressors, inotropes, sedatives, and analgesics
- Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced critical care to neuro, trauma, and surgical patients
- Read and interpret Philips telemedicine monitors independently
- Participate in self-scheduling, including a minimum of six weekend shifts every six weeks
- Complete trauma and stroke education annually as part of the hospitals Level 1 trauma and comprehensive stroke center standards
- Additional Information:
- The unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
- No nurse aids are on the unit
- The team includes in-house hospitalist or intensivist coverage 24/7
- Equipment includes Cpap, BiPap, high-flow oxygen, vents, and Philips monitors
- The unit requires staff to float within zone 3 when necessary, based on department needs
- Charting is completed in EPIC system
- Cancellation policy allows the hospital to cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for shorter durations
