Job Summary
The Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH) Technologist is responsible for providing support during complex surgical procedures involving cardiac care in a healthcare facility. This role involves assisting surgeons with instrumentation, preparing surgical supplies, and maintaining a sterile environment to ensure patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes.

Job Details

• Certifications, Education, and Experience: Completion of an accredited surgical technology program recognized by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or a formal military surgical program. Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. No minimum years of experience required.
• Schedule: Rotating shift start times (0645/0900/1045), 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Responsibilities:
  • Assists with complex surgical procedures by providing instruments, supplies, and equipment in a timely manner.
  • Prepares and maintains the surgical environment, ensuring all supplies are available and in proper working order.
  • Handles specimens and medications using correct procedures, adhering to safety and sterilization standards.
  • Performs surgical counts to ensure all sharps, instruments, and sponges are accounted for before, during, and after procedures.
  • Tests and maintains equipment, reporting any issues immediately.
  • Provides indirect patient care activities such as transportation and assisting with room turnover.
  • Maintains aseptic technique and monitors for breaches affecting safety.
  • Assists with restraining uncooperative or aggressive patients in a safe manner.
• Submission Requirements: Must be able to start ASAP, with the assignment scheduled from 10/26/2026 to 01/23/2027.
