Job Summary
Labor and Delivery (L&D) RN - Float This position is located in the labor and delivery department of a healthcare facility. The role involves providing quality patient care to obstetric and neonatal patients, including interpreting fetal strips, following clinical protocols, and working within a team to ensure optimal outcomes. The RN will be expected to float to Medsurg and Emergency Room settings as needed.
Job Details
- Certifications Required: BLS (Basic Life Support); Preferred certifications include ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Education Requirements: Current RN licensure; minimum of 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery
- Location Requirements: Must be within a 50-mile radius of the healthcare facility
- Experience: 0 years minimum, but 2 years of relevant experience preferred
- Schedule: 12-hour Day shifts, 48 hours per week minimum
- Additional Information: Must be able to read and interpret fetal strips, demonstrate critical thinking skills, follow quality metrics, and have previous travel experience. The RN will float to Medsurg and ER as needed and are expected to manage titratable drips such as Pitocin, insulin, and magnesium. The unit operates with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1 for certain treatments and 1:3 for couplet care, following AWHONN guidelines.
