Labor and Delivery Nurse (L&D) Rural Healthcare Facility, location unspecified. This role involves providing specialized care for mothers and newborns, with responsibilities including managing patients in labor, postpartum, and antepartum stages. The position emphasizes teamwork, provider consistency, independence, and strong communication skills.

Job Details

  • Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • Education/Degree Requirements: Valid nursing license ; 2 years of clinical experience in labor and delivery.
  • Location Requirements: Not specified.
  • Years of Experience: 2 years of relevant L&D experience required.
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, rotating days and nights, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Responsibilities include monitoring laboring patients, administering titratable and set-rate drips such as magnesium and oxytocin during labor, managing neonatal ventilators (CPAP, BiPAP, high flow), and troubleshooting electronic fetal monitoring systems.
  • The unit has 4 labor and delivery beds and 7 postpartum beds, following AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios.
  • Floating to support additional departments may be required, primarily assisting with the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Emergency Department.
  • Orientation consists of three 12-hour shifts.
  • RTO requests should be made at least 7 days prior to the start; additional RTO requests may not be approved.
  • This is a rural hospital with limited nearby services; the distance from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is over 1 hour.
  • Ability to pass fit testing for facial hair is mandatory; contract cancellation may occur if facial hair cannot be removed.
