Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse located within an acute care facility, this role involves providing high-quality patient care on a busy med/surg unit. The position requires a proactive approach to care management for patients with conditions such as congestive heart failure, hypertension, pneumonia, COPD exacerbations, and other common medical diagnoses.

Job Details

• Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS), with a minimum of 2 years of experience in medical-surgical nursing, and licensure eligibility to submit license
• Experience or "Must have" skills: Med/Surg experience
• Responsibilities include titrating drips such as analgesics for pain, anticoagulants for blood clots, and antihypertensives for blood pressure control
• Common diagnoses include CHF, hypertension, chest pain, COPD, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure
• Unit notes: Working with remote telemonitoring, RN reading strips, and operating Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, vents, as needed
• Staff include nurse aides (ratio 1:8), and charge nurse who takes an assignment
• Self-scheduling and block scheduling options are available
• Full and part-time staff expected to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule, with holiday and float requirements as outlined
• Charting system: EPIC
