Job Summary

Medical Surgical Floor Nurse located in the region is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care within a busy acute care setting. This role involves managing patients with diagnoses such as congestive heart failure, hypertension, chest pain work-ups, COPD exacerbations, asthma, pneumonia, pancreatitis, bowel obstructions, gastrointestinal bleeding, and acute renal failure. The nurse will work dayshift, with a schedule of 11.5-hour shifts, totaling at least 34.5 hours per week, and must be prepared to float within zone 4 as needed.

• Required Qualifications: Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support); Education: Valid nursing license; Experience: At least 2 years of clinical experience in an acute care setting; Location: Must be in state for week of orientation; No minimum experience required.
• Preferred Qualifications: NIHSS experience; Experience with titrating drips such as analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives.
• Additional Information: Unit notes specify the need for experience with NIHSS, ability to read telemonitors, and perform necessary clinical assessments. The unit operates EPIC charting system, with charge nurses taking their own assignments. There is a requirement to work a minimum of six weekend shifts every six weeks, with holiday shifts expected. The team utilizes Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, and vent equipment. Self-scheduling and block scheduling are permitted, with float requirements determined by the nurse manager based on department needs.
