Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) Massachusetts. This position involves delivering high-quality patient care within the surgical suite, coordinating perioperative services, and supporting a safe and efficient operating environment. The role encompasses preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative patient management, with a focus on collaboration and adherence to hospital policies.

Job Details

  • Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred. One year Operating Room (OR) experience required. Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Must read, write, and communicate in English. Use of lead apron required.
  • Schedule: Shift times are nights, with a total of 8 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week. On-call responsibilities are required for off-shift, weekends, and holidays.
  • Responsibilities: Delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Administers and monitors patient responses to all medications. Guides and teaches ancillary personnel, maintaining professional nursing standards within hospital policies. Properly utilizes nursing informatics systems and maintains accurate patient records. Assesses patient needs and develops a comprehensive plan of care, communicating pertinent information to healthcare team members. Acts as a resource person regarding patient care, orientation, and staff education. Participates in quality monitoring activities and safety procedures. Assists in the supervision of OR personnel and department operations. Provides and manages supplies, equipment, and medication inventory. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of techniques and regulations relevant to patient care and the surgical environment. Assists in staff development and additional departmental duties as directed.
  • Additional Information: The role includes responsibilities for coordinating daily operating activities of the Operating Room, supervising staff, and contributing to a safe, efficient surgical environment. On-shift leadership and patient-focused care are vital components of this assignment.
