Job Summary
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse California
This position involves providing specialized nursing care to neonates in a Level III NICU on rotating shifts. The role includes care planning, medication administration, monitoring physiological changes, and providing psychosocial support to families. Cross-training and floating to Pediatric units are integral components of the position.

Job Details

  • Position Description: Provides nursing care for neonates in the NICU, including medication administration, change of physiological status, and family education. Supervises and delegates care to ancillary personnel; cross-training and floating to Pediatric areas required.
  • Required Qualifications: Associate Degree (A.S.) or equivalent; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred; current RN license in state of practice; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from approved vendor; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from approved vendor; two years NICU experience; Level 3 NICU experience minimum; previous neonatal transport experience preferred; attendance at deliveries for neonatal resuscitation preferred.
  • Schedule: Rotating shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Information: Demonstrates competency in routine and critical neonatal care, manages mechanical ventilation and ventilatory support devices, interprets hemodynamic monitoring and laboratory values, and provides psychosocial support to families. Adheres to safety and quality control protocols and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Certifications and Licenses: Current RN license, BLS, PALS, and NRP certifications are required. AHA-PALS or ARC-PALS; AHA-NRP or ARC-NALS; and Basic Life Support from approved vendor are mandatory.
  • Submission Requirements: Candidates must be able to demonstrate all specified qualifications and certifications prior to employment.
