Job Summary
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse (MS), located in the healthcare organizations short-term acute care facility, is responsible for providing comprehensive patient care in a busy hospital setting. The position involves managing a diverse patient population with complex clinical needs, including those with tracheostomies, total laryngectomies, and other ENT and plastic surgery procedures. The Nurse will work in an innovative, Level I trauma and teaching hospital environment, delivering care with a focus on patient safety and clinical excellence.

Job Details

• Shift Time: Days
• Shift Hours: 12 hours per shift
• Schedule: 36 hours per week, guaranteed hours, with a minimum of 3 shifts every 13 weeks.
• Required Qualifications: Valid license in MO or IL (or another approved compact state), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), and BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) certification. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital setting, with experience in a Level I or teaching facility preferred; 1+ year with relevant experience considered. Clinical skills required include managing drains, monitoring flaps post-op, tracheostomy/total laryngectomy care, tube feeding, phlebotomy, IV access, and Central Line Management.
• Additional Information: Candidates must have completed labs within 48-72 hours of signing and modules through WorkRamp completed before the first day. Travel experience is not required but is preferred.
• Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS.
• Care Responsibilities: Includes management of drains, monitoring flaps post-op, caring for tracheostomies, and wound care for ENT and plastic surgery patients with complex needs.
• Unit Details: The unit handles adult patients with diagnoses including Cuffed/Cuffless Tracheostomies, Total Laryngectomies, Carotid Blowout Precautions, and Free Flap Patients, with interdisciplinary support from IV teams, respiratory services, and social services.
