Job Summary
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) at a children's hospital in Norfolk, VA. This role involves providing specialized nursing care in a Level IV, 70-bed NICU, supporting infants with various critical conditions, including prematurity, neurological disorders, cardiac lesions, and respiratory issues. The position requires a compassionate and skilled professional prepared to work nights on a rotating schedule.
Job Details
- Position Description: NICU RN responsible for delivering high-quality care to neonatal patients in a Level IV NICU setting.
- Required Qualifications: BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications, at least 1 year of relevant experience, valid RN license, and ability to work nights.
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information: The unit includes 70 beds with 50 private rooms and 10 semi-private rooms. Frequently involved procedures include bedside surgeries such as PDA ligation, chest tube insertion, and Penrose drain placement. The RN will support a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 or 1:3. Floating to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) may be required, but float rotation is not expected. Orientation lasts approximately 2-3 shifts, and all clinicians must have a current flu vaccination during flu season.
