Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Nurse, in the healthcare facility setting, responsible for providing high-quality patient care for a diverse patient population including respiratory failure, sepsis, GIB, bariatric post-op, diabetic, CHF, COPD, PNA, and acute SNF patients. This role involves telemetry monitoring and managing mixed acuity patients in a 29-bed unit, supporting a welcoming and traveler-friendly culture.

Job Details

  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS.
  • Education Requirements: No minimum years of experience.
  • Location Requirements: The position is based in the healthcare facility.
  • Years of Experience: 0.0 years required.
  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 48 hours per week.
  • Responsibilities include bedside handoff, vitals, toileting, bathing, feeding, telemetry interpretation, central line management, tube/drain management, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and IV skills.
  • Support on the unit includes charge nurse float staff, hospital educator, SWAT nurse, RT 24/7, hospitalist 24/7, OT, PT, ST (day shift only).
  • Charting System: EPIC (preferred).
  • Orientation: 12-hour orientation with preceptor on assigned shift, including hospital orientation, NEO class/modules, safe patient handling, and glucose training.
  • Telemetry Competency: Must be completed and passed prior to start.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required.
  • RTO: Up to 7 days, with additional days coordinated via email with the nurse manager.
  • Holiday Expectations: One summer and one winter holiday at minimum, with scheduling to be coordinated with the nurse manager.
  • Bedside handoff is a requirement, with the whiteboard updated per shift.
