Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Nurse specializing in Open Heart procedures, located in the area with a focus on acute care. This position involves supporting general OR cases, vascular surgeries, and open heart procedures, with a consistent vascular surgeon schedule and occasional complex cases such as heart surgeries.

Job Details

  • Position Description:
    Supports a busy OR unit with approximately 15-24 cases daily, including heavy orthopedics, gynecology (C-sections), urology, spine, ENT, GI, and general surgeries. Vascular cases involve femoropopliteal, cutdowns, hybrid procedures, fistulas, and no neuro or Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG). The team covers two C-section rooms and a cystoscopy room, with a focus on adult and pediatric cases, including rare appendectomies and tonsil removals.
  • Required Qualifications:
    Certified in testing NBSTSA or NCCT, BLS certified, with a minimum of 3 years experience in an acute surgical setting. Must do C-sections and be capable of supporting vascular and open heart cases.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    Previous travel experience and familiarity with orthopedic surgeries, especially total joints, are highly desirable but not required.
  • Schedule:
    Shifts are from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM or from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with the specific shift assigned upon request.
  • Additional Information:
    Charge nurses or house supervisors are present during daytime shifts, with call teams available after hours. Call shifts include CST calls (6-7 per month, including one weekend) and CVOR CST calls (15-16 per month, including every other weekend). Weekend and holiday call requirements vary, with response times of 20 to 30 minutes. Orientation includes a half-day with HR and up to four days on the unit.
