Job Summary
Step Down Unit RN - Nights Location unspecified. This position involves providing specialized nursing care for patients with a wide range of medical conditions, including respiratory, neurological, cardiovascular, and surgical cases. The role requires the ability to handle complex procedures and utilize electronic medical records.

Job Details

  • Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree Requirements, Location Requirements, and Years of Experience: ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS; minimum of 2 years of experience; minimum experience requirement: 0 years.
  • Schedule: Three 12-hour night shifts per week, with rotating nights, weekends, and holidays, totaling at least 48 hours weekly.
  • Required Qualifications: Able to read telemetries, comfortable with chest tubes, and able to care for patients with COPD, CHF, Diabetes, sepsis, renal issues, DKA, alcohol withdrawal, overdoses, pneumonia, respiratory conditions, neuro/surgical/cardiac patients, Bipap, Cpap, trach tubes, chest tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, central lines, ablation/cath lab patients, dialysis, etc. Also proficient in using electronic medical record systems such as EPIC and medication dispensing systems like Pyxis.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Extensive ICU experience is a plus; float to ICU or general medicine floors may be required depending on experience.
  • Responsibilities: Provide inpatient acute care on a 32-bed unit with private rooms, managing 3-4 patients per nurse, with orientation comprised of a one-day education session plus another day on the floor.
  • Additional Information: Travel RNs are first to float and may be assigned to ICU or general medicine units as needed. The unit emphasizes team-based care in a fast-paced environment.
  • Submission Requirements: License to submit; willing to wait for licensure; documentation of certifications required.
