Job Summary
Medical Surgical Rehabilitation Nurse Acute Rehab, located in an organization providing specialized inpatient rehabilitation services. This position involves delivering high-quality nursing care to patients recovering from strokes, trauma, cardiac events, and orthopedic conditions. The role requires adapting to a rotating shift schedule and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Details
- Position Description: Involves working on a 7-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit with a focus on stroke, trauma, cardiac, debility, spinal cord injury, neuro, and orthopedic patients. The unit supports patients with diverse diagnoses, requiring routine procedures such as IV insertion, straight caths, Foley catheter management, and administering antibiotics and isolation precautions.
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS (American Heart Association or ARC), CPI certification, and a minimum of 1 year of experience in Medical Surgical or Acute Rehabilitation nursing. Proven experience with IVs, straight caths, Foley, antibiotics, and isolation patients. Experience or training in Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility (IRF) settings is preferred.
- Schedule: Rotating shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, totaling 36 hours per week, with a requirement to work every third weekend and every other observed holiday.
- Additional Information: Nurses will participate in weekly interdisciplinary team meetings every Wednesday morning. The unit operates with a nurse-patient ratio of 1:3-4, typically with two nurses on shift when patient census exceeds five. Telemetry is monitored centrally, but nurses do not read strips. Self-scheduling options are available, and orientation comprises one shift. The unit is not highly medically complex, with an average length of stay of 7-10 days, up to 30 days.
