Job Summary
Step Down Unit Nurse Nights Location unspecified. This role involves providing specialized patient care in a fast-paced, acute care setting for individuals with diagnoses such as heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke. The position requires a patient-focused approach, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic clinical environment.

Job Details

  • Position Description:
    RN to work in a Step Down Unit with a 22-bed capacity, caring for patients requiring close monitoring with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. The role includes managing titratable drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitro, as well as troubleshooting CPAP equipment. RNs read and interpret electronic fetal heart monitoring strips and respond to patient needs in a high-paced environment with many admits and discharges. The unit is equipped with Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, and other respiratory support devices.
  • Required Qualifications:
    Active license to practice as a registered nurse, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications, minimum 2 years of clinical experience, and the ability to pass a pass/fail exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience on step-down or telemetry units, positive attitude, teamwork skills, patient-oriented approach, and experience reading electronic monitor strips.
  • Schedule:
    Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 48 hours per week, starting on 11/09/2026 and ending on 02/08/2027.
  • Additional Information:
    Candidates must not have been employed full-time, part-time, or PRN at any facility associated with the organization within the past year. RTO requests must be made upfront, as additional RTO will not be approved post-submission. Candidates must be willing to float to ICU if applicable and have relevant experience. Fingernail policy prohibits artificial nails in clinical areas.
