Job Summary
Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) Location: Not specified. This role involves providing specialized nursing care across inpatient units, including ICU, step-down, and medical/surgical units, based on competency. The position requires delivering high-quality patient care in an acute setting, with a focus on patients with cardiac, ortho/neuro, surgical, and medical conditions.

Job Details

  • Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree Requirements, Location Requirements, and Years of Experience: BLS (American Heart Association), ACLS (American Heart Association); minimum of 2 years of experience; no specific location requirement; total experience required: 0 years.
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, days and evenings, with a minimum of 48 hours per week.
  • Responsibilities include monitoring patients on ventilators (Cpap and BiPap), reading strip monitors with monitor tech support, and managing titratable or set-rate drips such as Heparin, Cardizem, insulin, and others, primarily in step-down areas.
  • Equipment includes Cpap and BiPap on all units; vents in ICU.
  • The unit operates with a charge nurse/house supervisor system, providing free charge day shifts Monday through Friday, with 24/7 house supervisor coverage.
  • Nurses are assigned via daily staff calls, with a float pool of nine nurses and a strong PCT float team.
  • Scrub color for shifts is royal blue.
  • Unit-specific orientation lasts 3-4 shifts.
  • Shift notes: 12-hour shifts, weekends as scheduled, with a 48-hour guarantee.
  • Charting system: EPIC.
