Description

Job Summary
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) Belhaven. This 13-week assignment involves delivering high-quality patient care in a specialized unit focused on patient safety and clinical excellence. The RN will supervise licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, and orientees, ensuring compliance with care plans and fostering a safe environment.

Job Details

  • Certifications and experience: BLS Certification required prior to first shift; ACLS certification required prior to first shift (if applicable); minimum of two (2) years acute bedside clinical experience; experience in LTAC, stepdown, or progressive care units is highly desired; no minimum experience requirements listed for this position.
  • Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Position responsibilities: Perform nursing assessments within 8 hours of patient admission, develop individualized care plans, and collaborate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Accurately document assessments, interventions, and responses in the medical record. Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and initiate discharge planning from the day of admission. Communicate vital information for team conferences, and support continuity of care.
  • Additional duties: Provide direction, training, and supervision of ancillary nursing staff. Maintain safety standards and contribute positively to team activities. Ensure proper use and maintenance of supplies and equipment, and follow all hospital policies regarding safety, appearance, and attendance.
  • Professional growth: Identify opportunities for self-development through continuing education and self-study. Assume charge responsibilities as requested after orientation.
