Job Summary
Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse in a healthcare facility setting. This role involves caring for high-risk obstetric patients, including those with complications such as blood pressure issues, diabetes, multiple pregnancies, substance abuse, and no prenatal care. The position requires experience with high-risk deliveries and familiarity with medications like Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and insulin drips. The assignment starts on 11/02/2026 and concludes on 02/01/2027, with 12-hour day shifts every other week.
Job Details
- Position: Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse
- Location: Healthcare facility setting
- Certifications: ACLS, Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM), BLS Certification, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); all required
- Education and Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in L&D; experience with high-risk deliveries and medications such as Pitocin, mag sulfate, and insulin drips preferred; must have C-section experience; travel experience is preferred
- Shift: 12-hour days, every other week, starting at 7:00 AM
- Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
- Additional notes:
- Unit is a high-volume center with 12 L&D beds, 10 triage beds, and 12 antepartum beds
- Follows AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios
- Unit employs 2 OB technicians per shift to assist with deliveries and scrubbing for c-sections
- 24/7 OB and Neonatology coverage
- Must have experience with high-risk high acuity obstetric patients, including patients with blood pressure issues, multiple pregnancies, diabetes, substance abuse, and those without prenatal care
- Be familiar with medications such as Pitocin, magnesium sulfate, and insulin drips
- Must adhere to unit-specific policies, including sterile scrub attire and acrylic overlay nails prohibition
- Floats to antepartum and postpartum units may be required, with floor-specific orientation provided over 3 shifts
