Job Summary

Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery Department. This position provides care for laboring patients, obstetric triage patients, postpartum patients, and newborns in a rural healthcare setting. The nurse is expected to work independently, support labor and delivery services, and assist with postpartum and nursery care based on patient volume and staffing needs.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: At least 1 year of experience; active compact nursing license in hand at submission; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Association of Womens Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Advanced, Basic Life Support (BLS), FHM, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and STABLE certifications; experience with required charting systems; ability to manage labor patients independently, provide obstetric triage, support postpartum and nursery care, and care for neonatal and adult patients.
• Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge experience and community hospital experience.
• Schedule: Night shifts consisting of 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Weekend coverage is required, including 7 weekend shifts during the assignment.
• Additional Information: Patient care includes elective inductions, labor augmentation, preterm labor, vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC), preeclampsia and eclampsia management, scheduled non-stress tests, obstetric triage, and transfers for patients requiring a higher level of care. The position may involve caring for labor patients while also supporting obstetric triage and outpatient patients. Support may include administration of blood and blood products, neonatal resuscitation, fetal monitoring, postpartum hemorrhage management, cesarean recovery, medication infusions, newborn assessment, breastfeeding support, and patient and parent education.
