Description
Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Medical Surgical Floor. This acute care role provides nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients with diagnoses including cellulitis, sepsis, dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, syncope, anemia, uncontrolled diabetes, acute respiratory failure, liver failure, kidney failure, and behavioral health or addiction concerns. The position follows a 12-hour day schedule and requires experience with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 a.m.7:30 p.m., with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend, including Saturday and Sunday.
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse with an active Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA); at least 1 year of experience; experience with central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing is not required.
- Preferred Qualifications: Electronic medical record experience with EPIC and travel experience on a medical-surgical floor. Candidates with Level I trauma center experience may be considered without travel experience if they have EPIC experience.
- Additional Information: The 56-bed adult medical-surgical unit cares for acute general medical patients. Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:45 during daytime and evening hours and 1:56 overnight. Nurses manage patients receiving heparin and furosemide infusions, while respiratory support may include bilevel positive airway pressure and continuous positive airway pressure. Telemetry is monitored remotely, with nurses able to view strips on designated devices or computers. Professional scrubs of any color are permitted. Unit orientation consists of 23 shifts.
