Job Summary

Operating Room Assistant, Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician. Supports nursing staff with receiving, caring for, and transporting patients to and from the perioperative area. Maintains patient care equipment, supplies, and a safe, clean operating room environment while providing patient support in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Job Details

• Schedule: Day shift; 8-hour shifts; 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods, patient records, emergency response, operating room equipment and supplies, and computer systems; ability to provide appropriate patient care, maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively in English, work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate customer service, and adapt to varying assignments and shifts.
• Additional Information: Responsibilities include assisting with patient transport and care, transporting equipment, supplies, blood products, and specimens, performing shave preparations, non-invasive monitoring, specimen collection, ambulation, and repositioning; cleaning and maintaining operating room equipment; practicing aseptic techniques and infection control; stocking supplies; disposing of trash and linen according to protocol; participating in quality improvement, equipment evaluations, in-services, staff meetings, and preventive maintenance activities; and supporting department, institutional, and regulatory policies and procedures.
