Job Summary

Registered Nurse, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Nights. This position provides critical care to medical, surgical, and neurosurgical patients in an acute care setting. Responsibilities include managing ventilated patients, titrating intravenous medication infusions, troubleshooting respiratory equipment, and supporting care involving external ventricular drains and other critical care devices.

Job Details

• Schedule: Night shifts consisting of 12 hours, 48 hours per week, including every other weekend.
• Required Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years of experience; American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification; registered nursing licensure. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is not required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience caring for neurosurgical patients and managing ventilators, intravenous medication infusions, external ventricular drains, and critical care devices.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: The intensive care unit maintains a 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio and cares for a typical mix of medical, surgical, and neurosurgical patients. Registered nurses may be required to titrate propofol, nicardipine, diltiazem, and vasopressors; troubleshoot ventilators, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP), and high-flow equipment; and print and interpret telemetry strips. A unit-specific orientation of one to two shifts is provided. Weekend requirements include four weekends in six weeks, with one major and one minor holiday assignment. Navy scrubs are required.
