Job Summary

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The position supports a Level III neonatal intensive care unit caring for premature newborns and critically ill infants across all gestational ages. Responsibilities include providing specialized neonatal care in collaboration with neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, and other clinical specialists.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Level III neonatal intensive care unit experience; Basic Life Support (BLS); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); STABLE certification; experience with jet ventilators, oscillator ventilators, nitric oxide therapy, central lines, extremely low birth weight infants, intravenous drips, and peripheral intravenous lines.
• Preferred Qualifications: National Certification Corporation (NCC) certification, Registered Nurse CertifiedLow-Risk Neonatal (RNC-LRN), Certified Neonatal Pediatric Transport (C-NPT), and Certified Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM); critical-thinking skills, emotional stability, empathy, strong communication, adaptability, ability to multitask, and comfort supporting families experiencing trauma.
• Schedule: Night shifts consisting of 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Additional Information: The unit provides care for premature infants born before 32 weeks of gestation, critically ill newborns, and patients requiring a full range of pediatric medical subspecialty support. Patient assignments may range from 1:1 to 3:1 depending on acuity and patient needs. Clinical resources include heart monitoring, oximetry, ventilators, continuous positive airway pressure, nitric oxide therapy, jet ventilation, intravenous drips, and central lines. No mandatory call is required. Navy blue scrubs are required.
