Job Summary

Medical Surgical Rehabilitation Floor registered nurse position focused on caring for patients recovering from neurological conditions, neurosurgery, amputations, multitrauma, cardiac conditions, and complex medical conditions. The role provides 12-hour day-shift nursing care in an acute rehabilitation setting and includes participation in interdisciplinary team conferences.

Job Details

• Schedule: Day shifts are 12 hours, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA); active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated; minimum of 1 year of experience; strong neurological nursing skills.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Additional Information: The acute rehabilitation unit cares for patients with neurological conditions, neurosurgical needs, amputations, multitrauma, cardiac conditions, and complex medical conditions, including tracheostomy patients without ventilators. Staff participate in team conferences and may float to long-term acute care or medical-surgical units when appropriately trained. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend, with holiday rotation. No call or standby requirement applies. Orientation includes classroom instruction followed by shifts with a preceptor, including training on required rehabilitation documentation. Continuous positive airway pressure and bilevel positive airway pressure may be used at night for sleep apnea.
