Job Summary

Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician provides assistance and support to surgeons by preparing and providing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures. The role promotes a safe, effective, and orderly Operating Room environment while supporting sterile technique, patient positioning, instrument counts, specimen handling, and perioperative care.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: High school diploma or GED, plus one of the following: completion of a Surgical Technician training program or graduation from an accredited school; or a Certified Surgical Technician credential or Tech in Surgery certification with 10 years of experience. Two years of current experience in a large Operating Room required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required through an approved provider. Demonstrated knowledge of Operating Room procedures, aseptic technique, instrument handling, surgical equipment, and patient positioning. Must be a flexible team player accustomed to a fast-paced environment.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with orthopedic, ear, nose, and throat, or vascular surgery preferred. Experience with the Epic system preferred; on-site training may be available.
• Schedule: Day shift, 8-hour shifts, 40 hours per week.
• Additional Information: Responsibilities include preparing supplies and instruments, maintaining the sterile field, performing instrument and sponge counts, preparing the patients skin, positioning and repositioning patients, assisting with intraoperative monitoring and preoperative care, performing scrub functions, handling specimens appropriately, and maintaining knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and intraoperative medications.
