Job Summary
RN Endoscopy Lab West Hills, CA. The position provides nursing care in an endoscopy laboratory supporting colonoscopies and upper gastrointestinal endoscopies for adult and geriatric patients. Responsibilities include pre- and post-procedure care, conscious sedation monitoring, cardiac monitoring, and collaboration with physicians during procedures.
Job Details
- Required Qualifications: Current California nursing license; current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross; Bachelor of Science in Nursing; minimum of 2 years of nursing experience; experience with a 1:2 patient ratio; required experience with Epic charting.
- Schedule: Day shift, 07:3016:00 Monday through Friday; 8-hour shifts; 40 hours per week.
- Additional Information: The role supports approximately 30 patients per day, including colonoscopy and upper gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures, with two procedure rooms, three recovery bays, and two preoperative rooms. Clinical responsibilities include administering and monitoring conscious sedation, airway management, identifying dysrhythmias, obtaining 12-lead electrocardiograms, starting and maintaining intravenous lines, specimen handling and labeling, recovering patients from monitored anesthesia care sedation, and assisting with endoscopic procedures while maintaining medical and surgical asepsis. Knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, side effects, reversal agents, and electronic medical records is required. Proficiency with Windows-based applications and the ability to travel between the endoscopy area and gastrointestinal laboratory are also required. Adult and geriatric patient populations are served.
