Location: Hood River, Oregon, United States

Compensation: Up to $2,802.28 weekly (USD)

Overview

This role provides after-hours and shift-based clinical leadership across acute care units, ensuring safe patient flow, staff support, and adherence to regulatory and quality standards. The House Supervisor Registered Nurse serves as the escalation point for clinical, operational, and staffing issues, coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to maintain high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide shift leadership and oversight for inpatient acute care operations, including patient throughput, bed placement, and transfers.
  • Coordinate staffing resources, manage assignment adjustments, and respond to call-ins to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios.
  • Support clinical decision-making, assist with complex patient situations, and serve as a resource for evidence-based practice.
  • Respond to emergencies, rapid responses, and codes; facilitate debriefs and ensure timely documentation and follow-up.
  • Promote compliance with hospital policies, state/federal regulations, accreditation standards, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Address patient/family concerns, participate in service recovery, and collaborate to resolve complaints.
  • Document operational events, staffing actions, and incident reports; escalate risks to leadership as needed.
  • Collaborate with departments (ED, ICU, Med/Surg, Case Management, Respiratory, Lab, Imaging) to optimize patient flow.

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon (or compact/eligibility to obtain Oregon licensure prior to start).
  • Minimum 5 years of recent acute care RN experience; prior charge nurse, lead, or house supervisor experience strongly preferred.
  • Current BLS (AHA) required; ACLS required; PALS preferred based on unit mix and facility needs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of acute care workflows, staffing coordination, patient placement, and regulatory expectations.
  • Strong clinical judgment, crisis management, conflict resolution, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled; ability to respond quickly to emergent situations.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records and basic operational reporting/documentation.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including standing/walking for extended periods and assisting with patient care as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN preferred.
  • Charge/leadership training, Lean/quality improvement experience, or certification (e.g., CCM, CEN) is a plus.
