Overview

This interim leadership role supports both Med Surg and Emergency Services as a working Supervisor/Charge Nurse. You will provide shift oversight while also taking patient assignments as needed, ensuring safe staffing, strong clinical support, and smooth throughput during 12-hour night shifts.

Location & Compensation

• Location: Hamburg, Iowa, United States
• Pay: Up to $2,315.20 per week (USD)
• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM–7:00 AM), 36 hours/week
• Block Scheduling: Preferred (6 on / 8 off)

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as Supervisor/Charge Nurse for Med Surg and ER; coordinate unit activities, patient flow, and staffing on nights.
• Function as a working supervisor, providing direct patient care in Med Surg and/or ER based on census and acuity.
• Provide real-time clinical support, escalation, and coaching to nursing staff and ancillary teams.
• Ensure compliance with policies, documentation standards, medication safety, and infection prevention practices.
• Lead shift huddles, assign patient loads, manage bed placement/throughput, and collaborate with providers.
• Respond to emergencies, rapid clinical deterioration, and high-acuity events; coordinate transfers and admissions.
• Support quality initiatives, incident reporting, and service recovery; promote a culture of safety and accountability.

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license (Iowa or compact/multistate, as applicable).
• Recent acute care RN experience with demonstrated charge/supervisory leadership; ability to float between Med Surg and ER as needed.
• Strong assessment, prioritization, and communication skills in a fast-paced night-shift environment.
• Comfortable serving as the on-shift resource for clinical decisions, staffing, and escalation pathways.

Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• TNCC

Additional Requirements

• Ability to work scheduled nights reliably, including block scheduling when available.
• Proficiency with EHR documentation and standard hospital workflows (admissions, discharges, transfers).
• Must be able to meet physical demands of bedside nursing (standing, lifting, and assisting patients) and maintain a professional, patient-centered approach.
