Key Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs through history, observation, physical examination, and data analysis; implement nursing interventions consistent with the Plan of Care and physician-prescribed medical plans.
• Conduct hourly rounds utilizing the 4 P's and foster an environment of caring, compassion, and respect for patients, families, and visitors.
• Utilize standard work protocols for central lines, chest tubes, foley and suprapubic catheters, pressure ulcers, restraints, and high fall-risk patients.
• Ensure appropriate storage and safety of medications, including large volume IVs, saline, and medications in pre-packaged kits.
• Contribute to department performance through precepting and mentoring novice employees and supporting hospital-system Evidence Based Practice initiatives.
• Maintain a professional image and demonstrate excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with Service Excellence Standards.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina or a compact state license that is valid for practice in South Carolina.
• Experience in a Medical Surgical nursing setting.
• Proficiency with standard nursing equipment and health and safety protocols.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience precepting or mentoring new nursing staff.
• Familiarity with Evidence Based Practice initiatives within a hospital system.
• Demonstrated commitment to continued professional growth through goal-setting and ongoing education.
