Travel RN – Operating Room / Surgery

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13-Week Travel Assignment | Days | 5 Days, 8 Hours/Day | Start Time: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM | On-call requirement: approximately one weekend per month (approximately 7 days per month)

Key Responsibilities

• Provides routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients in the Operating Room setting.
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
• Administers medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitors for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and thoroughly.
• Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and available resources.
• Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as needed to effectively manage clinical situations.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN License in the state of Texas or a valid Compact RN License.
• BLS certification required (American Heart Association only).
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in Operating Room / Surgical nursing.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Experience in a similar acute care or surgical clinical setting.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex, contingency-based clinical situations independently.
