Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume emergency room setting with an average daily census of 114 and a typical 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Operate within a 29-room emergency department, adapting to dynamic patient volumes and acuity levels
• Participate in holiday coverage rotation, with an expectation to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's)
• In the event of an emergency or disaster, report as assigned by the unit manager, which may include remaining at the facility until the event passes or serving on a relief team
• Complete required facility modules during orientation as part of onboarding
• Maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications throughout the assignment (CPI may be completed on site prior to start)

Required Qualifications

• Active Compact or Louisiana RN license in hand at time of submittal
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Room nursing
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required; all AHA certifications must be AHA-issued
• CPI certification required — candidates must obtain this prior to start if not already held (note: this certification can be difficult to obtain, so early preparation is strongly encouraged)
• NURSYS report required with profile submission and must be current within 4 weeks of submission date
• Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility (as measured from the address on the candidate's driver's license to the facility address) to be eligible
• Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors at this health system must have been separated for a minimum of 1 full year before returning as a traveler

Preferred Experience / Skills

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Experience working in high-census, fast-paced emergency department environments
• Familiarity with emergency team protocols and disaster/emergency response procedures
