Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (1830–0700) | Every Other Weekend Required | 1 Major and 1 Minor Holiday Required | Cyclic Scheduling

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced stepdown unit managing common diagnoses including heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, amiodarone, and nitroglycerin per protocol
• Read and independently interpret telemetry strips without reliance on monitor technicians
• Manage CPAP equipment and troubleshoot respiratory therapy devices as needed
• Collaborate with charge nurses and patient care techs in a team-based environment with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Float to the ICU when appropriate and when experience qualifies

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in the state of Iowa
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Ability to pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam with a score of 90% or higher during orientation
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Candidates must not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity, nor have been within the past year
• Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; candidates must comply with facility fingernail policy

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a stepdown, PCU, or IMC setting
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• ICU experience or background that would support floating to an ICU environment
• Strong telemetry interpretation skills
