Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Staffing needs re-evaluated every 4 hours; traveler may float 2–3 times per shift | Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block | One holiday required per 13-week contract period

Key Responsibilities

• Float across all PCU and Medical-Surgical units as staffing needs dictate; must be comfortable working all PCU and MS units
• Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, and blood product administration
• Provide central line care, trach management, and non-invasive airway support including nasal cannula, CPAP/BiPAP, and chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac)
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, interpret and manage dysrhythmias, titrate cardiac drips, and respond to Rapid Response and Code team activations
• Manage PCA and heparin protocols, administer IV insulin, and care for patients with endocrine and metabolic conditions
• Document all patient care using EPIC; EPIC experience is required

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia State RN license or active Compact RN license required; pending license accepted only if candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• EPIC charting experience required
• Clinical background in telemetry, stepdown, PCU, DOU, or IMC-level care
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for this position; candidates residing 50–99.9 miles away may be considered for one 13-week assignment with no eligibility to extend

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Cardiovascular experience including pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care
• Prior travel nursing experience preferred, though first-time travelers will be considered
• Familiarity with high-acuity float pool environments and adapting quickly to varying patient populations
