Registered Nurse – CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Every other weekend required | Every other holiday required, if needed

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill cardiac surgery patients, including those with sepsis, ARDS, renal failure, heart failure, multi-organ failure, post-cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, and shock
• Manage arterial lines, central lines, and PICC lines; administer blood products and perform ABG interpretation
• Operate and monitor advanced cardiac devices including ECMO, LVAD/RVAD, IABP, Impella, and Swan-Ganz catheters
• Administer and titrate continuous IV sedation, paralytics, emergency medications, and cardiac and vasoactive drips; monitor procedural sedation
• Manage ventilated patients including ventilator management, HFNC, and BiPAP/CPAP support; assist with chest tube insertion and removal
• Perform CVVHD/CRRT, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, wound vac care, and infection prevention using appropriate PPE; float within skillset as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active New York single-state RN license required at time of submission (NY is not a Compact state; pending licenses are not accepted)
• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required — must be included and valid at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of CVICU or relevant critical care nursing experience
• EPIC charting experience is a hard requirement
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for post-CABG and heart transplant patients
• Familiarity with advanced cardiac device management including Impella, IABP, LVAD/RVAD, and ECMO
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and targeted temperature management protocols
• Background working in a Magnet-recognized or academic teaching hospital environment
