Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 32-bed Stepdown unit serving post-surgical Thoracic and Medicine patients at a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3–1:4
• Titrate drips per MD-ordered parameters, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Nitroglycerin, Esmolol, Heparin, and Lasix
• Interpret and document patient cardiac rhythms with each assessment every 4 hours, or more frequently during medication titration
• Manage patients on BiPAP and with tracheostomies; no ventilator management required
• Collaborate with a Charge Nurse, House Supervisors, and CNA support (3–4 CNAs per shift)
• Adhere to unit dress code (Royal Blue scrubs) and complete 3 shifts of unit-specific orientation

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in West Virginia or a compact state license
• BLS certification (required)
• ACLS certification (required)
• Strong MedSurg Stepdown experience with demonstrated ability to titrate drips and interpret cardiac rhythms/strips
• Full COVID-19 vaccination required (2-dose Moderna or Pfizer series, or single-dose J&J); medical or religious exemption requests must be submitted promptly for review
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for post-surgical Thoracic patients
• Familiarity with centralized telemetry monitoring systems
• Prior travel nursing experience in a Stepdown or PCU setting
