Travel RN – Cardiac Telemetry / Medical-Surgical (Nights)

Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights (19:00–07:00) | Expected 36 hours/week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for a cardiac telemetry and medical-surgical population including post cardiac cath, AFib, CHF, stable MI, pacemaker insertion, and medical overflow patients
• Manage and titrate cardiac drips and vasoactive medications including insulin drips, Precedex, nitroglycerin, and Cardizem; support patients on BiPAP
• Monitor patients using GE telemetry equipment, IV pumps, glucometers, and computers; document care in EPIC EMR
• Coordinate patient care in conjunction with other departments while maintaining patient rights and confidentiality
• Evaluate the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers and maintain professional accountability
• Perform all duties in a manner consistent with facility mission, values, and service standards; weekend and call hours as required by the facility

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license — must meet eligibility criteria for licensure in the state of Missouri or hold an active Missouri RN license
• BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA) only
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2+ years of Stepdown or ICU experience in an acute care hospital setting
• Demonstrated competency with insulin drips, Precedex, titrating nitroglycerin, Cardizem, and BiPAP
• Flu vaccination (or facility-approved exemption) required for assignments running November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for post-operative surgical patients and trauma patients, as the unit accepts these populations
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR
• Flexible, dependable, and hardworking with strong teamwork skills
