Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume Emergency Department averaging approximately 70 patients per day, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3–4 depending on acuity
• Manage a diverse patient population including pediatrics, cardiac (STEMIs), strokes, trauma, and general ER presentations such as abdominal pain, respiratory, and GI conditions
• Administer and monitor common ER drips including pressors and sedation; troubleshoot respiratory equipment (nasal cannula through ventilators)
• Independently read and interpret cardiac monitor strips; perform EKGs as needed
• Staff triage and may care for ER hold patients intermixed within the department
• May be asked to precept other staff as needed by the unit; may occasionally float between two campuses as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in the state of Texas
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC
• Must pass the Advanced Dysrhythmia exam (minimum score 83%) prior to contract start; up to three attempts permitted
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience
• Proficiency with Epic EMR
• Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any facility within the CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity Health system within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with Level III Trauma, STEMI, and Stroke receiving center protocols
• Comfort managing pediatric patients in an ER setting
• Experience with common ER respiratory equipment including BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen
• First-time travelers welcome to apply
