General Information: Hospital Information: Inpatient: 353 Fairmont Blvd. Rapid City, SD 57701 Outpatient: 955 East North Street, Suite 200, Rapid City, SD 57701 RNs will be expected to float between the Inpatient and Outpatient areas Dialysis Unit Information: Inpatient: Unit Chairs: 7 Chairs AND Portable (bedside) dialysis machines Outpatient: Chairs: 36 chairs (4 of the chairs are isolation rooms); Patient scheduling software: ScheduleWise Operation: Inpatient: Monday – Saturday; On call dialysis nurse for night coverage and Sunday Outpatient: Monday – Saturday; 2.5 patient shifts a day Required Experience: Dialysis experience: At least two years Hemodialysis dialysis experience Travel experience required: Yes; at least (1) 13-wk assignment Patient Types: Inpatient: Acute and chronic dialysis patients admitted to the hospital; CRRT and plasmapheresis not completed by dialysis nurses Outpatient: Chronic dialysis patients Patient Ratios: Inpatient: 1:2 to 3 depending on staffing and acuity; Bedside: 1:1 Outpatient: 1:8 patients Partnered with either two dialysis technicians or 1 dialysis technician and one licensed practical nurse (LPN) Daily Staffing/Support within Department: Inpatient: 1 charge nurse 2 staff nurses 1 bedside nurse (Upon staffing availability) 1 nurse on call Monday – Saturday: Night call Sunday: 24-hour call Outpatient: 1 charge nurse 4 staff nurses 1 isolation/float nurse: based upon staffing availability 8 dialysis technicians and/or LPNs Education: Completion of a nursing education program that is approved by a board of nursing Registered Nurse (RN) License: South Dakota or compact state Skills Required: Hemodialysis experience Must be competent in accessing and troubleshooting fistulas/grafts Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS): Required DL required – will float between facilities Charting System/Equipment: EPIC – required Fresenius 2008T BlueStar Hemodialysis Machine (preferred) WRO 300/300H Portable Reverse Osmosis System (preferred) Floating: Will be expected to float between both inpatient and outpatient Orientation: One week of orientation (Over 36 hours required for first week of orientation for training purposes) General hospital and department orientation: 1 day (8 hours) Three staff shifts Scheduling: Call Required: One on call shift a week Monday – Saturday: 12-hour night call (2000-0800) Could be after a working shift but doesn’t have Sunday: 24-hour call (0800-0800) You will be scheduled off work the day your call ends Response Time? 30 minutes Weekend Rotation: Every other Saturday Friday is not a part of the weekend You may be scheduled for Friday night call on your weekend off Sunday is a part of the weekend If it is your weekend to work, you may be scheduled for Saturday night or Sunday on call shifts If it is your weekend off, you will not be scheduled for Saturday night or Sunday on call shifts Approval of time off: Manager approval Holidays: Work all holidays if they fall within the week (clinic WILL be open). With the exception Thanksgiving and Christmas but will have to work a Sunday to make up for the holiday. May be placed on call for the inpatient area Other Notes: Scrub Color - Navy blue Free Parking
