MANAGER INTERVIEW ONLY Department: Trauma ICU *Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS* **Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care- refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. **Will not accept First Time Travelers **NO LICENSE OR BACKGROUND HITS** **Driver's license required at submittal and will be used to determine if candidate is outside 50 miles.** * * RN's - Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation. OPEN BOOK exam on skills learned - they are given all necessary resources to pass. Must receive a 90% to pass or they will be terminated * * - # of Beds: 18 - Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:1-2 ICU, 1:4 PCU - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Adults and Peds >15 years old. Various Trauma injuries (only level 1 trauma center for the system, take in a lot of transfers and/or ED admits), Sepsis, stroke, ARDS, MODS, COPD, cardiac arrest. CVPs, IABP and Impella-core staff will take if no exp; Alines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring- all can train real time. Zoll-Thermoguard for hypothermia protocol, Bell Mont rapid transfuse - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, antiarrhythmics - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes - Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes- 1:18 - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Nasal cannula to vents - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: No techs- Draeger heart monitoring with centralized telemetry monitoring. RNs need to be able to read and interpret - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 0630-1830, 1830-0630 // self-scheduling, managed by manager based on unit needs - Weekend Requirements: 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period - Floating Requirements: All over to the inpatient units, excluding Maternity/NICU - Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy Blue - How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2 shifts - Additional Notes: Fast paced unit with critically ill patients. Attributes that help a nurse be successful on this unit include critical thinking skills, personable, positive attitude, team player.
