Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Facility: Baptist Health Lexington
Hospital System: Baptist Health System KY - MSP
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- 3-4 weekend shifts per month (Friday or Saturday night)
- Strong Neuro experience required
- Required certifications: NIHSS, ACLS, BLS
- Responsibilities include:
- Airway management
- Management of vented patients
- Artline management (preferred for ER)
- Management of dysrhythmias
- Central line management
- Management of IV drips
- Isolation precautions
- Triage skills (ER/ER Holding only)
- Computerized documentation
- Nurse to patient ratios 1:1-2+
- Interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias
- Continuous IV sedation and titration of IV vasopressors
- Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Experience with fempops, CEAs, post thoracic surgeries, post craniotomies, neurosurgeries
- Minimum 1.5+ years of recent experience
Required Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (AHA Only)
- BLS (AHA Only)
- NIH Stroke Certification (within 1 year of start)
- NURSYS Verification (for all RNs)
- Pass/Fail EKG Test (Med Surg/Tele, Tele, ICU only)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) as required by specialty
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Color Blind Testing Online (prior to start)
- Competency Exam (prior to start)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (updated annually)
Licenses & Verifications
- State License 1 Verification (Primary Source Verification required)
- Education Verification (must match specialty; diploma or transcript acceptable if verification unavailable)
- Background Check (7-year criminal check, updated annually)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM checks required
- HHS/OIG checks required
- 2 Professional References (1 for non-clinical)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam (within 1 year of start)
- Fit Mask Test (annual; specific mask types accepted)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination acceptable for non-clinical)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (updated annually)
- TB Questionnaire (baseline and annual)
- MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B (Surface Antibody Titer, Series, or Declination required)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or IgG titer required; no declinations accepted
- Drug Testing - Negative 9 Panel Urine Drug Screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Medical/Religious Exemption (required during flu season Oct 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 Vaccination or Medical/Religious Exemption (facility-specific form required)
Facility Specific Requirements
- Badge photo (clear, unedited, solid background, shoulders up)
- Respiratory Fit Test Waiver (if applicable)
- Onboarding instructions provided prior to start
Additional Notes
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually (not required for non-clinical)
- Performance evaluations completed by unit managers after start
- Separate background approvals required for Baptist Health Louisville and Baptist Health Lexington placements
