Contract Details:

• Length: 17 weeks
• Hours per week: 48 hours (4x12s)
• Shift: Nights
• Evening shift option: If a candidate strongly prefers evenings, please specify desired shift times.
• Overtime: 8 hours
• Extension Opportunities: Yes
• RTO: Holiday RTO not accepted. If total RTO exceeds 3 days, one week will be added to the end of the contract.
• On-Call: None

Certifications Required:

• AHA BLS

Licensure:

• Active RN License (VA or Compact)

Experience Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years Behavioral Health/Psych experience
• Minimum 2 years total RN experience
• Minimum 1 year Pediatric Psych experience preferred
• Adolescent experience required

COVID-19 Vaccine Requirement:

• Vaccine required; exemptions accepted

Important Note

This is a high-acuity behavioral health facility that serves adolescents with complex psychiatric needs and trauma histories. The environment can be emotionally intense and physically demanding, with patients who may display aggressive or unpredictable behavior.
 

Nurses must be confident in crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and maintaining safety for both patients and staff.

If you are not prepared to work in a challenging, high-energy environment supporting adolescents with behavioral and emotional struggles, this is not the right assignment.

• Location: Staunton, Virginia
• Facility Size: 48-bed hospital (4 units of 12 beds each)
  • Units 1 & 2: Child & Pre-Adolescent Programs (up to 14 years)
  • Units 3 & 4: Adolescent Programs (ages 13–17)
• Scrub Color:
  • CNA/DSA: Grey (light or dark)
  • LPN/RN: Any color
  • No hoodies, sweatshirts, or pullover tops permitted. Layering allowed with visible scrub top.
• Patient Ratios: Within standard behavioral health guidelines
• Case Types: Depression, bipolar disorder, mood disorders, substance abuse, suicidal ideation, and autism spectrum disorder
