Job Overview

We are seeking a contract Medical Physicist for flexible, as-needed coverage. This is not a full-time position but involves short-term or intermittent assignments with travel flexibility.

 

Specialty: Radiation Oncology

Requirements

  • North Dakota licensure required
  • Experience with Accuray Precision System with Synchrony (Tomotherapy and Radixact)
  • Clinical experience in medical physics

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform specification, acceptance testing, and commissioning of new radiation equipment
  • Calibrate radioactive sources and accelerators, maintaining records for their use
  • Ensure radiation equipment safety for clinical use
  • Develop and maintain radiation Quality Assurance and radiation safety programs
  • Supervise source preparation and handling during brachytherapy and maintain brachytherapy source inventory
  • Calculate shielding for treatment rooms and radioactive source storage
  • Provide consultation and support to Radiation Oncologists on physical and radiobiological aspects of treatment plans
  • Supervise dosimetrists and support radiation therapists in treatment delivery
  • Assure accuracy of treatment unit parameters and settings, including verification of parameter transfer between simulator, treatment plan, and treatment unit
  • Develop techniques to improve imaging and radiation treatment delivery
  • Oversee and approve equipment maintenance and commissioning by external contractors
  • Comply with North Dakota administrative code (NDAC 33.1)
