Unit Notes

Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity. 

**Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care- refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract

**Driver's license required at submittal and will be used to determine if candidate is outside 50 miles.

** *must be able to circulate in OR In addition to ensuring that our Traveler RNs are able to circulate the ORs, we also need to screen for competency in normal newborn assessments and routine baby care. 

We do have the expectation that these nurses will float to Postpartum on occasion and this requires care of the infant as well as the mom. 

Department: Labor & Delivery *Certifications: BLS, NRP* - # of L&D Beds: 16 labor rooms and 9 antepartum rooms - # of OR Suites on the unit for C-Sections: 3 - # of Triage beds: 7 bed triage unit where they assess patients who are greater than 20 weeks with pregnancy complaints - # of Postpartum beds: 36 - # of Births per day? Month? Year?: Up to 400 per month - Do you follow AWHONN guidelines for ratios?: 1:1-2 labors, 1:2-3 antepartum - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: High-risk OB and routine obstetric care - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, pain meds - Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Charge on Both Shifts - Are there nurse aids/surgical techs on this unit? Duties?: 2 OBTs per shift - OB/Neonatologist in house 24/7?: 3 residents and 1 supervising MD on the floor at all times - Anesthesia in house 24/7?: CRNAs on the unit 24/7 - RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot?: Nasal cannula - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: Tele in recovery after a c-section - EFM System: Obix - Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 0630-1900, 1830-0700 // - Weekend Requirements: Every third weekend, but could be up to every other based on unit need - Holiday Requirements: 1 major, 1 minor - Floating Requirements: Will float to Postpartum, occasional float to the house to be a "sitter" - Scrub Color/Dress code: Surgical scrubs provided - How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 2-3 shifts - Additional Notes: Attributes that will help a nurse be successful on this unit include teamwork, positive attitude, flexibility, eagerness to learn, open to new challenges, and a great attitude 

 

RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
