Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Acute Care is a vital member of the healthcare team, providing safe, compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients with diverse acute medical conditions. The RN collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans. The role promotes excellence in patient outcomes through quality care delivery, teamwork, and professional practice aligned with nursing standards and organizational values.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care in accordance with professional standards and the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation).
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, identify priority needs, and develop individualized care plans.
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures safely and accurately, monitoring for therapeutic and adverse responses.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and ongoing care needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of assessments, interventions, patient progress, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
• Promote a safe and healing environment by adhering to infection prevention, fall prevention, and patient safety protocols.
• Participate in shared governance, evidence-based practice initiatives, and continuous performance improvement.
• Serve as a preceptor, mentor, and positive role model to peers and new staff.
• Support unit-based goals and contribute to a culture of compassion, teamwork, integrity, and excellence.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred).
• Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Georgia (or Compact License, as applicable).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience preferred.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple patient priorities effectively.
