Title: ICU RN (Strong Neuro Experience Required)
Location: Chesapeake, VA
Shift: Day | 4x12-Hour (07:00–19:30) | Option for 3x12 or 4x12 | Weekdays, EOW, Holidays
Start Date: 1/5/2026
Contract Length: 13 weeks (48-hour contract available; OT after 48 hrs)
Guaranteed Hours: 48

Job Overview

Seeking a skilled ICU RN with strong neuro experience (post-neurosurgical, EVD, stroke).
Must be comfortable floating to Stepdown and occasionally ED/MedSurg for ICU holds.

Patient Populations Include:

  • Neurosurgical & post-stroke
  • Respiratory failure
  • Renal failure
  • Post-surgical
  • Trauma, sepsis, MODS
  • Heart failure, post-cardiac cath

Requirements

  • License: VA or Compact (must be active at submission)
  • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (AHA only)
  • Experience:
    • 3 years critical care preferred (strong <3 yrs considered)
    • EPIC proficiency required
    • Travel experience preferred
  • Testing: Must pass EKG test (≥80%, 1 attempt, no remediation)
  • Modules: 3 billable hours, completed pre-start

Key Skills

  • Neuro care (post-neurosurgical, EVD, stroke)
  • Vent management, telemetry, dysrhythmia & emergency management
  • IV drip titration (cardiac & vasoactive)
  • Conscious sedation
  • Central line care, arterial line management
  • CRRT/CVVHD*, ICP monitoring*, hypothermia protocol*, trauma & TBI care

Additional Info

  • Float: Required (ICU → Stepdown; Stepdown → ED/MedSurg as needed)
  • Weekend: Every other weekend
  • Charting: EPIC (required)
  • Orientation: Included (details provided post-offer)
  • Support Services: IV team, RT, PT, Pharmacy, Social Services, Rapid Response
