Position Overview:
The Assistant Nurse Manager supports the Nurse Manager in the NICU for the 24-hour delivery of patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care on assigned units. This position is a night shift opportunity and plays a critical role in ensuring the operational effectiveness of the nursing team and contributing to the broader hospital objectives.
**Night shift 7p-7:30a
**Full time, 40 hours per week (36 hours plus 4 administrative hours)
Responsibilities:
-Supervises employees: Provides direction, coaches, trains, develops, and manages performance to company goals and expectations.
-Assists Nurse Manager in maintaining operational aspects of the patient care unit in collaboration with support services.
-Prepares, manages, and adheres to the department budget to maintain expenditure controls.
-Adds value as a key member of management: Understands the business, financials, industry, customers, and strategy.
-Assists Nurse Manager in contributing to nursing and the Hospital through support of philosophy, objectives, educational efforts, and research efforts.
Technical Expertise:
-Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word] or similar software is required. Epic software or similar EMR software is required.
-Experience in clinical pediatrics is required; clinical experience in assigned area is preferred.
-Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships which enhance communication, promote conflict resolution, and facilitate staff development.
Education and Experience:
-Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing [BSN] is required; Master’s degree [MSN] is preferred.
-Certification: Registered Nurse licensure is required.
-Current Health Care Provider BLS training from the American Heart Association is required.
-If assigned to general care units, PEARS is required.
-If assigned to critical care units, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, and/or NRP is required.
-If assigned to ED, Surgical Services, Sedation Services, Transitional Care/Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, and Transport, within 1 year of date of hire PALS, ACLS, TNCC, and/or NRP is required.
-Years of relevant experience: 5 to 7 years is preferred.
-Years of experience supervising: 3 to 5 years is preferred.
